A cold front is bringing afternoon temperatures in the 70s and nights and mornings in the 50s to central North Carolina.




Fall weather is back: Cooler and quiet conditions Thursday before a weekend warm up

<p>Meteorologist Grant Skinner here in the Weather Center, a mix of clouds and sunshine throughout your Thursday, but feeling very comfortable. Temperatures more mild this afternoon after a cool start. In the low 70s, with some extra cloud cover by then, upper 60s for some spots of the north, especially if you have some extra cloud cover. Then overnight tonight, it'll be very cool once again as high pressure continues to build into the area. 46 in Roxborough, stepping out the door Friday morning. 52 in Raleigh, and 54 degrees in Fayetteville. Now, high pressure will stay in place, they have an upper level ridge that builds over the area, so highs will warm up into this weekend. Saturday and Sunday, highs warming close to around 80 degrees, but overall rain chances is staying pretty limited to some brief showers into your Sunday. So for for football Friday, these are looking great, low 70s by 6 p.m. mid to upper 60s, 9, 10 o'clock. And then for Wide Open Music Festival in Raleigh, of course, multiple different stages with with plenty of music to listen to, uh, Friday evening looks great, and also Saturday throughout the day, things are looking great. Temperatures in the mid to upper 70s, into the afternoon Saturday, very comfortable with just some scattered cloud cover. Now rain chances again, stay pretty limited through the weekend, some brief showers by Sunday. Next best chance for showers. Maybe some brief storms will be during the middle of next week, as we have our next front that moves in, right now, that rain it's looking like the best chance Wednesday night into Thursday morning. We'll see some changes over the next week. We'll let you know when to expect that rain. For now though, temperatures cooler to end this week, the morning sitting in the 40s and 50s for those spots, low to mid 70s for our highs, finally warming back to around 80 degrees this weekend.</p>
