WRAL Weather Alert Day: Possible storms in the evening call for a Level 2 Severe Risk

<p>Good morning. I'm meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. It's been a fairly active morning. We've had at least one severe thunderstorm warning south and east of the triangle, specifically affecting folks in Goldsboro, but also parts of Johnston County and other parts of Wayne County as well. Hail was the biggest threat this morning. We had large hail, at least radar indicated, coming out of that cell. We do of course have a level one risk for severe storms. Once we get into the afternoon, the threat shifts to our north and eastern counties, including most of the triangle, damaging. Winds, hail, isolated tornadoes are all possible. Again this afternoon, after a bit of a break in the precipitation around the middle of the day. We take a look at our weather alert day threats, wind, hail, flooding, and even isolated tornadoes are all in play again today, just like they have been all week long. This is a look at our rain chances this morning. It's been about a 30% chance, tiny little cells popping up, but some of those have definitely um produced a punch out there for us this morning. More sunshine at lunchtime helps to destabilize. The atmosphere and it turns hotter, near 90 degrees, but feeling more like mid 90s, lots of humidity out there, and then another round of severe storm potential later on this evening, starting at around 4 or 5 o'clock and continuing into the evening. We also have a dense fog advisory in effect until 9 a.m. areas that saw rain over the last day or so are foggy this morning. So it's a, it's a lot to deal with this morning. Today is a really good day to turn us on on WRAL because this is a rapidly changing situation.</p>
