90s return: Unseasonably warm highs this week before storms, rain for weekend

<p>I'm meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner Today is going to be a nice quiet dry day for us Let's jump out and take a look at Futurecast We're starting off with just some high thin clouds this morning Later this afternoon we'll see more clouds beginning to build in You can see around 5 o'clock those clouds beginning to thicken up There's going to be a disturbance back to the west You can see that line of showers with that That's going to move eastward but move into some drier air sitting over us and we're not likely to see any rain today A bigger push of moisture coming on Thursday with our actual front that'll come through Ahead of that front it's hot and humid uh well it'll be hot Today's not so humid but later in the week it'll be more humid So we're looking at 90 today tomorrow and Thursday until that front comes through That front will bring us a much better chance for rain As a matter of fact look at that low that's north of Dallas That's where we had some severe storms overnight last night and this front does have the potential to bring us some severe storms Late on Thursday we take a look at future cast There's 8:00 a.m. so we start dry on Thursday We'll see increasing chances for rain in the afternoon and evening at a level one risk for severe storms 7 a.m. on Friday we're looking at the potential for some rain So it may rain for much of the day on Friday We'll have a chance for thunderstorms and some heavier rain during the afternoon and evening And then that front just stalls or washes out over us and we may get a feed of more tropical moisture One of the tropical systems That could develop in the Atlantic uh could brush by us or at least send us some tropical moisture at this point It doesn't look that likely that we'll have a tropical system making landfall in North Carolina but we may see just a bumped up potential for some tropical type moisture There's 6 a.m. Saturday and then 4 o'clock Saturday Saturday is definitely trending wetter on this particular model as we may see uh disturbance kind of getting tangled up with that front Our risk for severe storms Thursday um for almost the entire state damaging winds and heavy rain are possible Our temperature of course will be starting to cool down after the front moves through We'll see a 30% chance of rain on Thursday 60 Friday 40 on Saturday Those numbers with some of the models coming in you might see those bump up over the next day or two Our forecast rainfall totals anywhere from 1.5 to maybe 2.5 inches of rain and we do have a low risk for flooding on Friday and Saturday</p>
