Open Mind Health Says Purpose is the Key to Post-COVID Workplace Culture

The Great Resignation Shows American Workers Need Better Mental Health Access

SAN DIEGO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / December 13, 2021 / According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 4.4 million Americans quit their jobs in September 2021, a record high, showing The Great Resignation is in full swing. The COVID-19 pandemic gave many people time to stop and think and reevaluate their professional and personal lives. The result is many workers now want more than a paycheck; they want a sense of purpose in both work and life.

According to Dr. Craig Beach, CEO of Open Mind Health, "everyone has a purpose. What they lack is living in alignment with it, or the ability to articulate and realize it. Being in tune with and living with purpose and meaning is critical to our overall well-being and happiness."

He adds, "experiencing a crisis of purpose in your life can cause you to feel dissatisfied, hopeless, empty, bored, to find no pleasure in any of the things that usually bring you joy or satisfaction. At work, in particular, you may feel disappointed, bored, and lack any meaning in what you're doing."

In many instances, dissatisfied employees can find help through their employer as more and more companies are offering mental health services in an effort to retain their workforce and enhance the workplace culture.

Open Mind Health helps individuals and organizations achieve mental wellness and find their purpose with customized mental healthcare that utilizes unique, evidence-based mind-body-spirit wellness tracks to get to the root cause of emotional challenges to achieve lasting results. The EAP track "Bringing Purpose, Positivity, and Productivity to the Workplace" addresses challenges in and out of the workplace, including health concerns, burnout, work/life balance, stress, and trauma.

The results of employer-sponsored mental health programs have been overwhelmingly positive. In a 2021 Modern Health Report, employees were asked how they benefitted from mental health support:

  • 47% said their mood improved.
  • 48% felt less stressed.
  • 46% were better able to balance work and life.
  • 31% said they were more capable of bringing their whole selves to work.

Dr. Beach says, "Open Mind Health's wellness tracks are not a band-aid solution or one-size-fits-all approach. We help bridge the gap between what organizations can do to support their employees and what employees can do to increase their purpose and fulfillment. We help make the workplace work for employees, which benefits everyone in the long-term."
