A series of fights broke out Friday at East Chapel Hill High School, resulting in a temporary hold -- students and staff required to stay put in classrooms -- and injuries to multiple staff members.

AND THE STAFF MEMBERS APPARENTLY INJURED TRYING TO BREAK UP WHAT ARE BEING DESCRIBED AS MULTIPLE UNRELATED FIGHTS INVOLVING STUDENTS TODAY AT EAST CHAPEL HILL. HIGH SCHOOL. WE GOT WORD FROM THE CHAPEL HILL CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM THAT AROUND 2.45 THAT SCHOOL WAS PLACED ON HOLD, WHICH MEANS THE HALLWAYS WERE KEPT CLEAR AND STUDENTS AND TEACHERS WERE SAYING IN PLACE AND WHEREVER THEY WERE LOCATED IN ROOMS OR OTHER AREAS, POLICE AND FIRST RESPONDERS WENT TO THE SCHOOL. WE'VE LEARNED SINCE THAT THE HOLD WAS LIFTED AND CLASSES SHOULD BE LETTING OUT AS NORMAL RIGHT ABOUT NOW. AND AGAIN, STAFF MEMBERS WERE HURT, TRYING TO BREAK UP THOSE FIGHTS ACCORDING TO THE DISTRICT. WE'RE WORKING TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE SEVERITY OF THOSE INJURIES.
