Crisp mornings ahead: Experience a taste of fall with cooler temperatures

<p>I'm wr a meteorologist. K Campbell tracking some absolutely gorgeous fall weather. It just doesn't get much better than this during the month of August in North Carolina. We are lowering our lows. So we are talking lows in the fifties this week. That will come on Thursday morning. The record low on Thursday morning dips down into the mid fifties. It's 54 at RDU. We're not quite forecasting a record, but we're forecasting 57 for the low. The normal low this time of year is in the upper sixties. So that's a pretty big deal. More than 10 degrees below normal as we look ahead to the weekend lows stay in the lower sixties. So a really nice stretch of evenings and mornings set to come this week and then the afternoons are still going to be warm. So those of you who aren't a fan of fall, you still have some great weather to enjoy upper seventies, Wednesday, low eighties, Thursday and Friday. It's really going to be gorgeous outside though. There will be times where we see cloudy skies develop for tonight. Low temperatures dip into the upper fifties to lower sixties. Nice, comfortably, cool. Start in the morning, even drier air expected. So the dew points continue to dip into the fifties. The lower that number is the more crisp it feels, which is great news because football Friday starts this week just in time for high school football. We get this little bit of a tease toward fall weather, 80 degrees at six o'clock Friday by nine o'clock 72. And toward the end of the games, temperatures could dip into the upper sixties. We saw our front move offshore, still some upper level energy and some clouds developing. But high pressure slides in and pushes this air out of Canada all the way into North Carolina. We are going to see this nice weather continue for a few more days. The afternoons warm but the more and evenings cooler and crisp, this is not going to last though. Here's the thing, our blocking pattern backs off. And by next week, the heat and high pressure that centered over the southern plains will shift to east. And with that comes the warm up, we're forecasting up above normal temperatures as we head into the end of the month in early September. And you'll see that on our seven day forecast next week, we are in the nineties next Monday 92 next 94 and the humidity is going to go up as well. So we are not making a smooth transition to fall. We never do. This is just a little bit of a tease this week, upper seventies tomorrow. Thanks to more clouds. Some of us in the low eighties though, low to mid eighties after that. And the change really begins Sunday when our high jumps up to 89 mainly dry weather is in the forecast over the next seven days, giving us still time to dry out after Debbie.</p>
