Fire crews are responding to a plane crash in Cumberland County on Sunday morning.

THEY WERE INSIDE THIS PLANE WHEN IT CRASHED IN A WOODED AREA IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY SKY 5 OVER THAT OVER THAT SCENE TODAY, THE VIDEO OF THE CHARRED BADLY DAMAGED PLANE. YOU JUST SAW A LITTLE BIT OF A TEASER, BUT NOW YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THAT IN DEPTH WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE NOW THAT PLANE CRASH AROUND 11:00AM THIS MORNING AT GRAY'S CREEK AIRPORT IN FAYETTEVILLE. NOW IN A STATEMENT, THE FAA CONFIRMED THE PLANE STRUCK TREES AND CAUGHT FIRE BEFORE CRASHING. NOW SEVERAL AGENCIES ARE OUT THERE AS WE SPEAK INVESTIGATING. THERE WERE 3 PEOPLE ON BOARD AND 3 INJURED. THAT'S WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR. WE'RE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A LITTLE BIT MORE OF THOSE DETAILS. BUT AT THIS TIME, THAT'S WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR. NOW WE WENT TO THE NEARBY NEIGHBORHOOD AND TALK TO NEIGHBORS ABOUT WHAT THEY HEARD AND SAW. MANY OF THEM DIDN'T SEE MUCH BUT THEY DID SAY THAT IS COMMON TO HAVE HEAVY AIR TRAFFIC ABOVE THEIR HOMES IN FROM THE NEARBY FLIGHT SCHOOL. BUT THE CRASH ITSELF STILL COMES AS A SHOCK. >> YOU'RE WE HEAR IT ALL THE TIME. THEY ARE ALWAYS FUN, FUN AND VERY LOW. WHEN WE FIRST BOUGHT THE HOUSE, WE DIDN'T NOTICE THERE A LOT OF AIR TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THE LAST PEOPLE PUT THE BALL ON IT. >> NOW SOMEONE AT THE CAPE FEAR AVIATION FLIGHT TRAINING SCHOOL TOLD WRAL THAT THE PLANE WAS ONE OF THEIRS, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO CONFIRM IF ANY STUDENTS WERE INVOLVED. WE'RE STILL WORKING TO FIND OUT THOSE DETAILS. Police said the victim, 20-year-old Ricky Orlando Nichols Jr. of Durham, was at the intersection of Dearborn Drive and Old Oxford Road inside a white sedan when another car pulled up beside it and fired multiple shots into the passenger side vehicle. The suspected vehicle drove away from the scene, while the driver of the white sedan drove to Keystone Place and ran from the car.
