The first day of traditional school for Wake County students also brought the return of transportation issues. Getting to school can sometimes be a challenge at the start of a new year, no matter if your child rides the bus, walks or if you drop them off in the carpool line.

HI, BRETT. >> HEY, RENEE, SOME OF THE SCHOOLS, A LOT OF SCHOOLS REALLY DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES. THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS CARPOOL LINE. FOR THE MOST PART, WE'RE SMOOTH SAILING, INCLUDING HERE AT WILEY ELEMENTARY WHERE NORMALLY WE SEE CAR SPILL OUT ONTO SAINT MARY STREET, NOT THE CASE TODAY. SO GOOD NEWS. A LOT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, BUT OTHER SCHOOLS WERE NOT SO LUCKY. THEY DID SEE SOME PROBLEMS LIKE OVER AT EAST WAKE HIGH SCHOOL. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO. IT SHOWS YOU THE CARS BACKED UP ON ROLESVILLE ROAD. THEN SOME PARENTS OPTED TO LET THEIR KIDS OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD RATHER THAN GO THROUGH THE NORMAL CARPOOL LINE PROCEDURES. AND THEN ONE GIRL THAT WALK TO SCHOOL WAS ATTEMPTING TO CROSS THE STREET WHEN FORTUNATELY, A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER SAW HER STOPPED TO PUT THEIR SCHOOL BUS STOP SIGN OUT AND LET THAT GIRL CROSS SAFELY. WE'RE GONNA FIND OUT FROM THE DISTRICT HOW THEY MIGHT ADDRESS SOME OF THOSE ISSUES AT EAST WAKE HIGH SCHOOL. MEANWHILE, IN APEX APPARENT FROM APEX FRIENDSHIP, MIDDLE SENT ME THIS VIDEO OF HER SON CROSSING HUMI, OLIVE ROAD. SHE SAYS THE TOWN PLACE AN EXTRA SIGN ALERTING DRIVERS OF THAT CROSS WORK. A CROSSWALK AFTER MY REPORTING. WELL, FROM LAST WEEK, THAT'S WHAT BROUGHT YOU THE CONCERNS FROM HER AND OTHER PARENTS IN THIS NEARBY NEIGHBORHOOD THAT WERE DESIGNATED A NO TRANSPORTS ZONE THIS YEAR. THEY HAD BUS SERVICE LAST YEAR. NOW THIS YEAR THEY DO NOT. AND PARENTS TELL ME THEY FINALLY DID RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THE DISTRICT LAST WEEK THAT SAID THAT DUE TO AN INCREASE IN DEMAND FOR BUS SERVICE, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO CONTINUE TO OFFER THAT NEIGHBORHOOD. ANY ROUTES WHEN IT FALLS INSIDE THAT NO TRANSPORTATION, NO TRANSPORT ZONE FRESH, ALL THAT THE MILE AND A HALF FROM THE SCHOOL AND WHAT YOUR KID GOES TO. WE'RE GONNA FIND OUT IF ANY OTHER CHANGES ARE GOING TO
