The fireworks and grills are not the only heat sources on this Fourth of July. The Triangle ties the record for the hottest Fourth of July, reaching 101 degrees.

<p>I'm meteorologist K Campbell in the wr a severe weather center. Hope you had a great fourth of July boy. It was a hot 1, 101 was the high and that ties for the hottest July 4th on record out at RDU airport. We've had five days in the triple digits so far this summer, the record is 12. Keep in mind though, the average is only 1 to 2 days in the triple digits. So it's really been a hot year. So far. A heat advisory is in effect on Friday for most of North Carolina, including all of our viewing area from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The heat exhaustion risk is increasing and the heat index will be above 105. We're forecasting an actual high temperature of 102 degrees on Friday about a 40% chance of an afternoon or evening thunderstorm. That chance goes up to 60% for both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday 98 to is 90 on Sunday. The humidity still very high for the weekend through next week. We've got a front to our north. That's what's triggering a few isolated storms tonight in our northern counties, these really shouldn't last very long for us. So you may have to delay some plans but not cancel them. And then the cold front gets closer to us as to our west on Saturday. And that's what's going to up our storm chances for the day, Friday, we're likely to be dry through about lunch time. But our first of the day could pop up by 23 o'clock. These will start out very scattered. They really could pop up just about anywhere and we could see a second band of some storms trying to push into our western counties later in the evening, things are quiet to start the day. Saturday as we get into the afternoon and evening notice how we have a lot more storms on the radar. These chances are going up ahead of this cold front that should act as a trigger for more thunderstorms to develop Sunday with out front very slow, low to move through. We should have another decent chance for some scattered storms. It's not going to rain all day either of those days. But better chances that you'll see at least some rain, which is good news with three quarters of the state under drought status. We really need it Monday and Tuesday of next week, storm chances go down a little bit more isolated. It's still humid and still pretty hot and next week, hot humid nineties with daily storms, that's going to be the story that continues.</p>
