'No relief:' Triangle braces for brutal heat, scattered storms Saturday

<p>I'm meteorologist Chris Michaels in the WRL severe weather center. Once again, another round of heat advisories and excessive heat warnings for our Saturday afternoon in the purple, including the triangle in the sand hills. That's where we see the heat index getting close to 110 this afternoon. Let's give you the hour by hour on that. And you notice as we head into the afternoon that the heat index does get into the triple digits, that's being a factor of the heat and humidity. We felt so much of over the course of the past few days. Now, yesterday, our storms were pretty isolated in nature, but as we head into this afternoon, we do expect more to develop. The reason being is a front that's going to be hanging overhead. So it takes our heat and humidity kind of rings it out like a wet towel there. You see about 1 31 45 and our storms are going to be isolated around that time. But once we head deeper into the afternoon, after 345 PM are going to increase in coverage at front is going to hang out with us heading into tomorrow. Morning, I can't rule out a stray shower by then. But once again, after about noon or so, we see the better chance of showers and storms. Now, despite the fact that we're in a drought, we do see the chance for some localized flooding just because of how humid, how much moisture there is in the atmosphere. One or two storms could have some pretty gusty wind, but as far as large hail or a tornado, uh, threat looks to be very low. At least some good news on that front. Meanwhile, in the tropics, we've got Barrel, that is a tropical storm right now. Landfall is expected in Texas Monday as a hurricane. But we do see the chance for some remnant moisture with that. There's the Spaghetti models and you see the center of the storm is gonna be farther to the west, but we still get some moisture out of it. Latest forecast data indicating 1 to 3 inches of rain possible, but this also brings some relief from the heat today. High temperatures about 95 to 100 degrees tomorrow. We're in the mid to upper eighties. Highs about 88 to 93 throughout the week ahead, low 70 to 75. And you see the daily chance for showers and storms each afternoon and each evening.</p>
