While Andrew Graney awaits his day in court facing 11 felonies and no bond. A former friend is actually speaking out today. She tells me that she believes drug use was the impetus for Gray's downward spiral. And she went to report strange behavior to NC State in February of 2023 2 students who had been friends with NC State student, Andrew Graney started finding Gray's behavior concerning. I talked to Hannah who didn't want us to use her last name. She's a former NC State student and Gray's former friend. She said he started kind of saying things that didn't make sense. He would send long messages in a group chat. It was like he believed he was unlocking all of these secrets to the universe. She went on to say he started talking about 5th and 6th dimensions. He even asked if we would be his disciples. So it was at that point, she another student decided to go to the NC State cares program to file their concerns cares is a program that supports students in crisis or who have been referred as exhibiting concerning or worrisome behavior and whose behavior does not indicate a direct threat of harm to the NC State community. Hannah told me we filed this because we were concerned about drug use, mental health and that he would hurt himself after she and another friend of Gray's filed a report. They got this letter back from NC State cares that letter stated they had reviewed their information and would be reaching out to Andrew to share resources or meet via Zoom or in person as needed. Hannah told me she was shocked last week when she saw Granny's mug shot on TV and heard about the felony charges involving shooting up eight cars and two houses in a four day crime spree. He said we tried to report this but potentially, I feel the system failed him. Now, I reached out to NC State today about the filing that was made. I asked them what filings had been made regarding Gray and what was contained in them, but they promptly wrote back, they could not discuss any of these filings due to the Family Educational Rights Privacy Act in Raleigh Chelsea Donovan Wrel News.
