Fall weather is back: Low humidity, breath of fresh air on tap this week

I'm meteorologist Chris Michaels. Happy Wednesday. Happy October to you. Today, temperatures right at about the average for this time of year. We'll be breezy at times, high temperature in South Hills 75, Roanoke Rapids, 72. Fayetteville, 81, Durham, Raleigh, Lewisburg, Rocky Mount at 77. Let's talk you through that wind. It's not gonna be anything damaging, but from time to time, you may see gusts 15 to 25 miles. Per hour and it's that breeze that just emphasizes some cooler air, especially the next couple of mornings. Thursday on the left hand side. You see temperatures 45 to 50 north of the triangle, 50 to 55 south of that, and then Friday morning it's more of the same. Be ready to have a light jacket as you're taking the kids to the bus stop or maybe heading to work early in the morning on Thursday and Friday.

The United States federal government shut down in the early morning of Oct. 1 after Congress failed to pass funding for federal programs and services.
