The fireworks and grills are not the only heat sources on this Fourth of July. The Triangle ties the record for the hottest Fourth of July, reaching 101 degrees.

<p>Happy fourth of July. I'm meteorologist K Campbell. We are forecasting one of the hottest fourth of July's on record in the triangle. The record 101 in 2012, we are forecasting at 99 degrees today and that would tie for the second hottest fourth of July on record 99 in Raleigh as well as Fayetteville. Not out of the question that we could hit 100. I think there would be a better shot at that tomorrow. Let's talk about your grilling forecast right around six o'clock. It's still in the mid nineties in the triangle. 93 in Rocky Mount, 96 in Fayetteville and 92 in Roxboro. I do think that you will have dry weather if you are grilling this evening and for dinner, the issue comes as we get closer to that 7 to 10 p.m. time frame. That's when we could see an isolated storm. So here are the town by town storm chances that we've uh customized for your town, it's going to be dry the southeastern part of our area. But from the triangle, north and west, there is a small chance of a storm. I would not let this deter you from your fireworks shows. I wouldn't cancel them or anything like that. If anything, you may have to wait up to 30 minutes as you wait for a storm to pass. But these should be fast movers and they should be pretty spotty out there. Five o'clock, we are still nice and dry, still dry at six by seven o'clock. The northwestern part of our area could see an isolated storm. Best chances would be 89 o'clock in the triangle. As we get toward 10 o'clock, we begin to dry out as the sun is setting. We lose the energy of the day and that helps those storms die down Saturday and Sunday will be our better chances for storms as we get into the weekend and that may hold our temperatures back a little bit over the weekend. We still have 100 for the high on Friday. So let's take a look at our high resolution models for storm chances this weekend dry early in the day, Friday during the afternoon and evening, we could see some pop up storms. It's not just the evening storms could pop up by 23 o'clock Friday afternoon. It's about a 30 to 40% chance of storm Friday. And then looking ahead to Saturday, we're going to have a frontal boundary closer to us and that should provide focus for more storms to fire up. So storm chances increase Saturday, certainly looking like a better chance for storms. That particular model tends to open storm chances two days out. So once we get that new data in this afternoon, if our most trusted model in that time frame comes out, looking that wet, we may need to bump up storm chances if you've got outdoor plans, check in with us for an update starting at four o'clock on WRL news today or WRL news plus all day long. Looking ahead to next week, the humidity stays high, but we have some additional opportunities for rain which we desperately need given our drought status.</p>
