THIS HAPPENED AT A GAS STATION ON FAYETTEVILLE STREET WRAL'S. LAURA LEVINE JOINS US LIVE FROM THE DURHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT RIGHT NOW. THEY WERE ON THAT SCENE. LAURA INVESTIGATING FOR MORE THAN 5 HOURS OVERNIGHT INTO THIS MORNING. &gt;&gt; JEFF, THOSE INVESTIGATORS LEFT A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR AGO. NOW THEY'RE HERE AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS WORKING TO COMB THROUGH SOME OF THAT EVIDENCE AND DETERMINE WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED HERE. AND THE OVERNIGHT HOURS THE SHOOTING HAPPENED LESS THAN A MILE AWAY FROM POLICE HEADQUARTERS HERE ON FAYETTEVILLE STREET AT THAT CITGO GAS STATION. IN THIS VIDEO. YOU CAN SEE CRIME SCENE TAPE WRAPPING THAT AREA AS INVESTIGATORS WERE SPENDING A LOT OF TIME IN THAT PARKING LOT. LOOKING AT EVIDENCE AND TAKING PHOTOS. WE SAW FORENSICS ON THE SCENE AS WELL AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. NOW OFFICERS AND INVESTIGATORS TELL US THAT THEY GOT THE CALL JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED THERE ON THE SCENE, THEY FOUND A WOMAN WHO HAD BEEN SUFFERING FROM A GUNSHOT WOUNDS. SHE WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES AND THEN SHE DIED A SHORT TIME LATER THIS MORNING. WE ARE WORKING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT LED UP TO THE SHOOTING.
