THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT TELLS ME YET ANOTHER CASE OF CYCLISTS WERE WAS REPORTED JUST THIS WEEK RIGHT HERE IN WAKE COUNTY. >> SO THAT PUTS OUR TOTAL UP TO 135 CASES SINCE MAY. AND IT'S VERY LIKELY THIS NUMBER. YOU SEE HERE DOESN'T EVEN PAINT THE FULL PICTURE. A SITE CLOSE PRICES INFECTION OCCURS WHEN SOMEONE CONSUMES FOOD OR WATER INFECTED WITH FECES. THE PARASITE IS MICROSCOPIC TOO SMALL TO SEE WITH THE EYE. THE WAKE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAYS ONLY 22 OF THE CASES HAVE BEEN LINKED TO 3 RESTAURANTS AND IT'S STILL UNCLEAR WHAT THE INFECTED PRODUCE OR PRODUCT COULD BE. BUT THE REASON WE'RE NOT NAMING THEM IS BECAUSE WHEN PATIENT NAMES THEM TO US, WE GO OUT AND DO A RESTAURANT INSPECTIONS, THOSE INSPECTIONS HAPPENED BUT DIDN'T TURN UP ANYTHING. AND WE THINK THE SOURCE IS TRULY THE OR HERBS AND NOT SOMETHING THAT THE RESTAURANT HAS DONE.
