THIS IS SORT OF DOWNSTREAM WHERE THEY COULD BE TRAPPED IN THESE LITTLE CODES ARE ON, YOU KNOW, IN DEBRIS FIELDS, MOST LIKELY EVERYTHING WILL COME TO THIS AREA. On Thursday, Sky 5 flew over Banner Elk to survey the damage from Helene.

Within the span of about two weeks in July 1916, two tropical storms dropped more than 26 inches of rain over western North Carolina, leaving most of the rivers gushing out onto city streets. There are some similarities between this event and Helene.
