Following a prank that left many fleeing the event last year, the Town of Knightdale celebrated the Fourth of July this year without fireworks.

THE 4TH ON FIRST EVENT. &gt;&gt; DURING THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY, A LOUD NOISE CAUSED A STAMPEDE. AUTHORITIES TELL US THIS ALL STEMMED FROM A PRANK WRAL'S DESTINY. PATTERSON IS LIVE AT KNIGHTDALE STATION PARK WHERE IT ALL HAPPENED. DESTINY. WELL, MORE THAN 20,000 PEOPLE WERE AT THIS PARK YESTERDAY TO ENJOY THE 4TH OF JULY AND WATCH THE FIREWORKS. THAT'S ACCORDING TO A SPOKESPERSON. &gt;&gt; AUTHORITIES TELL US, THOUGH, THAT SOMEONE WITH A FOUNTAIN FIREWORK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CROWD NEAR THE FOOD TRUCKS WHILE THAT FIREWORKS SHOW WAS GOING ON AND MANY PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT THAT SOUND WAS GUNFIRE. BUT IT WAS NOT IN THIS VIDEO. YOU CAN SEE THAT CAUSE MASS PANIC AND GROUPS OF PEOPLE TO TAKE OFF RUNNING. I TALKED TO A PARENT WHO SAYS HE'S DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR THAT A FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT AND DID SO POORLY. &gt;&gt; I THINK IT'S A IT'S A SHAME THAT INDIVIDUALS I WANT TO COME OUT AND ENJOY FIREWORKS WITH THE FAMILIES HAVE TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT CHILDREN BEING STAMPEDED AND HER IN BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT LIKE THIS. &gt;&gt; RIGHT NOW, WE'RE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING THAT INCIDENT.
