Wednesday is now our third WRAL Weather Alert Day this week. There's a Level 1 risk for severe storms in the afternoon and evening. Damaging winds will be the biggest threat.

WRAL Weather Alert Day: Localized flooding, severe storms expected again Wednesday

I'm meteorologist, Chris Michaels. It's another weather alert day as we see the flood watch in effect for most of the area. That's what you see on the left hand side of your screen, on the right hand side is another level, one severe risk, an indication that damaging wind gusts would be very isolated, especially in the northern half of the area between the hours of about 3 p.m. and 11 pm. Now we've got one wave of rain that's pushing through early this morning, but as it moves out, we see a nice break in the action, but during that time, the atmosphere is going to spend its time sort of recharging. Here's 4 p.m. and you see some hit or miss showers and storms that'll be around for, uh, the evening. There's 8 p.m. I think we see more than what future cast is showing right there as we've got a front overhead and that front's going to linger heading into Thursday morning at which point we could be dealing with some wet conditions for the Thursday morning commute. Now, we're under a medium risk for flash flooding today tomorrow. And Friday though Friday, it looks like that chance is going to be farther south of the triangle. And the reason being is this front that we're tracking and the position in which it's going to be. Now you see east of it, there's tropical moisture, west of it, there's drier air watch what happens as we put this into motion and you see that front pushing off toward the south. Well, it's going to take that tropical humidity with it. So it's essentially gonna take out the rain chance for us as we head into the weekend, still going to be warm out there because it's late July and you expect that. But as we look ahead to the weekend overall, not bad, 87 the high Saturday sun and clouds less humid, mainly sunny Sunday. Beautiful. If you like it hot. 89 the high still gonna be a little on the humid side but not going to be quite as overbearing as it's been over the past month or so. So today's Wral weather alert day tomorrow and Friday not quite as warm weekend forecast. Again, high temperatures, mid topper, eighties were near 90 mostly dry heading into the early portion of next week.
