After weeks of brutal, record-setting heat, we'll finally get some relief and much-needed moisture tonight.

Heat advisory: Intense heat continues into the evening, but long stretch of rain begins tonight

<p>I'm meteorologist Chris Michaels in the Wral Severe weather center for the fourth straight day. We've got heat alerts in effect for the area today. It's a heat advisory that goes from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The heat index is gonna get about this high. You see a lot of us are gonna be feeling like 104 to 107 at our peak this afternoon. So it's still another one of those days where you got to be careful outside, listen to your body if you're going to be doing a lot of work out there, at least some relief in sight. Now, today, we'll call our storm chances about 50 an indication of how scattered they're gonna be. There's a chance for a couple of stronger storms to be near and north of Wake County. This would be after about three or 4 p.m. up until about eight or 9 p.m. So it is a fairly limited time window for you to see some storms today heading into the overnight. We're nice and calm. Then we see this front kind of camping out over the region heading into the later part of the week and this weekend, that's going to set off more storms tomorrow. That's why we have a higher chance higher coverage of storms on Thursday. This front, camping out then for the rest of the week and that's going to bring in more storms as we head into the weekend. Good news is, it's going to cool things off a little bit. But the right hand side of your screen, you see that chance for localized flooding. We've got the yellow here for the weekend indicating that your plans may need to be brought inside at times, especially this afternoon and, uh, or each afternoon and evening, numerous storms Saturday, they look a little more scattered Sunday. So make a plan B for any kind of outdoor plans that you might have. At least some of the good news is we're gonna snap this streak of near 100 degree heat not anticipating many heat alerts to be in effect for the rest of the week or this weekend. Even tomorrow, the high temperature near 90 it'll feel like 100 at its hottest time of day as we head into the weekend. You still notice it's going to be humid overnight. Lows are going to be 71 to 73 high temperatures, 86 to 88 each day brings that chance for showers and storms. They'll be scattered to numerous at times each afternoon and evening.</p>
