According to Cary police, a homeowner on the 600 block of King Fork Road found a possible grenade while landscaping in their backyard.

WILLIE, IT WAS THE HOMEOWNER WHO FOUND THE DEVICE WHILE DOING YARD WORK. &gt;&gt; YES, ACTUALLY, HE WAS DOING SOME LANDSCAPING IN HIS BACKYARD WHEN HE CAME ACROSS A POSSIBLE GRENADE. I CAN TELL YOU WITHIN THE LAST 30 MINUTES, AN EXPLOSIVE CREW FROM FORT LIBERTY ARRIVED ON SCENE. YOU CAN SEE THEM. THIS IS THEIR TRUCK RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE IN THE BACKYARD. I DID JUST SPEAK TO CARRY. POLICE SAID THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THAT POSSIBLE GRENADE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE GROUND IN RIGHT NOW, THE CREW IS BACK. THEY'RE SCANNING THE BACKYARD FOR ANY OTHER MILITARY ITEMS. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO THAT WE CAPTURED OF THE SCENE EARLIER. AND YOU CAN SEE THE POLICE PRESENCE HERE ON CAME FORTH ROAD ACCORDING TO KERRY'S POLICE DEPARTMENT. THIS HOMEOWNER FOUND IT WHILE LANDSCAPING IN HIS BACKYARD. AND HE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE POLICE. THEY DO BELIEVE THAT THAT POSSIBLE GRENADE BELONG TO A PREVIOUS HOMEOWNER WHO WAS A RETIRED MILITARY VETERAN RIGHT NOW. IT'S NOT SURE WHERE THE WEAPON CAME FROM OR IF THAT IS STILL EXPLOSIVE OR ANYTHING ARE DANGEROUS IN THAT WAY. I'M WORKING TO GET MORE INFORMATION. ALSO FIND OUT WHAT EXACTLY KIND OF WEAPON IT WAS.
