More than 1 million North Carolinians are expected to head to the polls Tuesday to pick a president, governor, state superintendent, state legislature and dozens of other officials who operate federal, state and local government. Here's what you need to know.

WANT TO START WITH BREAKING NEWS IN BENSON WHERE THERE WAS A DISPUTE BETWEEN A POLL WORKER AND A VOTER. THE BUREAU'S REALLY? DAN LEE'S IN THE BREAKING NEWS TRACKER AT THE POLLING PLACE AND JOINS US LIVE. REALLY TELL US WHAT HAPPENED. WELL, JERROLD JOHNSTON, COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARE TELLING US THAT AN ASSAULT TOOK PLACE HERE AT THIS POLLING LOCATION, READ ELEVATION METHODIST CHURCH IN JOHNSTON COUNTY. >> I JUST SPOKE TO SOME VOLUNTEERS HERE AND THEY TOLD US THAT AN ELDERLY WOMAN DID NOT HAVE THE DOCUMENTS THAT SHE NEEDED TO VOTE HERE. AND SHE THE GAME DISGRUNTLED. SHE ENDED UP REACHING OVER A TABLE AND ASSAULTING ONE OF THOSE POLLING WORKERS AT THIS LOCATION. THEY TELL US THAT SHE THEN HOPPED IN HER CAR AND LEFT THE SCENE BEFORE THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE WAS ABLE TO GET HERE. THEY DID TELL US THAT OTHER PEOPLE AT THIS LOCATION WERE VERY HELPFUL AND THEY WERE ABLE TO WRITE DOWN HER LICENSE PLATE NUMBER AND GET MORE INFORMATION BEFORE SHE WAS ABLE TO FLEE THE SCENE. THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE DID JUST LEAVE THIS POLLING LOCATION AND IT'S BACK TO BUSINESS AS USUAL. WE'RE STILL WORKING TO GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PERSON WHO COMMITTED THE ASSAULT ASSAULT AND THE CONDITION OF THE WOMAN WHO WAS ASSAULTED.
