On Tuesday afternoon, an already tense situation at UNC-Chapel Hill escalated after the American flag was lowered and replaced with a Palestinian flag on the main quad. Dozens of police officers intervened to restore order while UNC Interim Chancellor Lee Roberts tried to reassure the campus community.

POLICE FROM ACROSS THE UNC SYSTEM DESCENDED ON THIS SAME A SPACE FOR THE FIRST TIME BEFORE DAWN ON DAY 5. >> 100 POLICE OFFICERS MARCHING ONTO A CAMPUS TO TO DISRUPT STUDENTS WHILE THEY'RE SLEEPING. AND WE ARE STILL NOT SCARED. >> OFFICERS OVERTURNED AND AIR MATTRESS FORTRESS BUILT AROUND THE CENTER OF THE ENCAMPMENT BLOCK. SOME PROTESTERS TRIED TO STOP POLICE VEHICLES EVEN LAYING DOWN ON THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THEM. UNC SAYS ABOUT 30 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED IN THE MOVEMENT. AT LEAST 6 WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH RESISTING A PUBLIC OFFICER.
