Wrl meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. Today is a WRL weather alert day. We have a heat advisory that's in effect for most of our counties. It will feel like 103 to 106 this afternoon. One thing to remember about heat, you know, we started with this heat wave back on Saturday. We hit 100 on Sunday. Impacts of heat on your body are cumulative. So the more days in a row that you're exposed to high heat, the more likely you are to have heat related illnesses. And this is especially true for Children, the elderly people who have to work outside. So just be especially careful for the next several days. We're going to see this high heat all the way into the weekend. It will feel like 103 to 104 this afternoon. It'll feel like triple digits starting as early as 11 o'clock this morning. So just be careful out there. Our forecast high is 100 in the tri 101 in Southern Pines and Fayetteville 99 in Clinton, Goldsboro, Rocky Mount, South Hill and Roxboro. It feels tropical this morning. Our due points way up at 73. So it is, it's a very sticky, humid feel and that's one of the reasons why it's going to feel dangerous for us this afternoon. And that continues. So the heat index is going to be high really all the way through Sunday. As we have a tropical feeling heat index, it just means we have a lot of, a lot of in the atmosphere. So again, our forecast for today is going to be for triple digits. We typically average 100 degree day per year. We've already seen one this week. So two, this week, potentially the earliest was June 7th, the latest October 3rd. So definitely hot for us feeling like 103 to 104 today, possibly 105 tomorrow and 103 on Friday, 101 Saturday and 106 on Sunday. So again, you can see this heat is not, it's not going anywhere anytime soon. The one change that we'll have in our pattern is tomorrow, a cold front will come through. We do have a level one risk for severe storms in our eastern counties along in east of I 95. For tomorrow, we have a better chance for some scattered storms starting around lunch time into the afternoon and that chance continues at least on a small scale, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So this would be just isolated, pop up storms. We're not likely to see a widespread soaking rain which is what we really need.
