Two people were shot within a few blocks of each other in Raleigh on Saturday night. Monday, the mother of a 22-year-old who was killed in one of the shootings expressed her dismay over her son's sudden death.

THIS IS REALLY TOO CLOSE TO HOME FOR A LOT OF AMERICA. WELL, JEFF, TOO CLOSE TO HOME IN SOMETHING THEY SAY HAS BEEN HAPPENING FAR TOO OFTEN HERE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. TAKE A LOOK RIGHT HERE. THERE'S STILL CRIME SCENE TAPE WRAPPED AROUND THIS POLE HERE AT THE INTERSECTION OF CLINTON IN SHERMAN AVENUE. &gt;&gt; THEY TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO WITH THIS IS A LOOK AT THE SCENE AS POLICE WERE INVESTIGATING THIS, OF COURSE, ALL STARTING ACTUALLY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT. JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES BEFORE MIDNIGHT. POLICE SAY A 22 YEAR-OLD GEORGE COOPER WAS SHOT AND KILLED HERE IN THIS INTERSECTION. NOW LESS THAN AN HOUR LATER IN JUST 2 BLOCKS AWAY. THAT SECOND SHOOTING HAPPENED. POLICE SAY A MAN THERE WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES. NO NAME HAS BEEN RELEASED IN THAT CASE AS WE'VE BEEN TALKING WITH BUSINESS USING NEIGHBORS IN THIS AREA THIS MORNING. AGAIN, THEY THEY SAY THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS HAPPENING FAR TOO FREQUENTLY. IN FACT, A CONSISTENT ISSUE HAS BEEN SHATTERED WINDOWS AND DAMAGED VEHICLES AND PARKING. LOTS AROUND HERE. WE'RE TOLD AS A RESULT OF OTHER SHOOTINGS THAT HAPPENED HERE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS.
