Get ready for a hot and muggy Friday. We'll have highs in the mid to upper 90s and feels-like values up to 107. A heat advisory takes effect at 11 a.m.

Good morning. I'm meteorologist, Elizabeth Gardner. We have one more day of dangerous heat in our forecast before we start to see temperatures dropping at least a little bit over the weekend and into next week. So one more day of just staying inside, finding indoor, uh, things to do. It's gonna feel like 105 to up to 110 across our area this afternoon. We did it 98 yesterday. We're looking at 97 to 98 again today across our area 96 Durham 97 in Fayetteville. So another very hot day with a potential force afternoon storms. 110 Raleigh this afternoon, the heat index will make it feel like 108 in Durham and in Fayetteville, 107 in Southern Pines and Clinton 108 in Goldsboro. Just a very hot afternoon. It feeling a little hotter even than it did yesterday and we still could feel like triple digits tomorrow, but it will keep just under heat advisory criteria looking at highs in the low nineties. So we'll see a drop in our afternoon highs. We'll see a better chance for rain, but it's still going to be pretty sticky, a better break on Sunday and then potentially some some higher heat and diseases next week but not up to heat advisory criteria check in the weekend, 91 for tomorrow, but an 80% chance of showers and storms and we do have a level one risk for severe storms tomorrow. 85 on Sunday. So definitely feeling cooler with a good chance for showers and thunderstorms and more cloud cover. So level one risk again for today and tomorrow with damaging winds being the biggest threat. You can see that front moving out of the Midwest. It's going to swing into area this weekend in stall and that's going to help to bring some cooler temperatures. But a better chance for rain if you had some outdoor plans, a lot of festivals happening this weekend, just keep in mind that we could end up with some wet conditions. Future cash is maybe a Sprinkle out there for us this morning. Um But a much better chance of some showers and storms later this afternoon, there's five o'clock, that's about when things start to get cranked up, but it could continue into the evening as well as overnight and definitely into the day, Saturday, an 80% chance of rain and a 70% chance on Sunday. After that, we're back to a 30 to 40% chance next week and temperatures cool down in the 80 s for highs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. But the middle of next week, we will also be watching the coast of North Carolina very closely. We've been tracking the potential for a tropical system to develop and the computer models are in better agreement that we can see that developing, moving up the west coast of Florida and then back out into the Atlantic with impossible impacts for North Carolina. So stay tuned.
