Storms, gusty winds possible on Friday evening; rain for Memorial Day weekend

<p>Hi, everyone. Meteorologist Anthony Bag Leone here in the Wral Severe Weather Center. Happy. Let's call it Memorial Day weekend. We're just about there. Let's talk all things weather here, get you ready for the next couple of days. Of course, there's lots of plans going on, even if you're just hanging at home. Now, not traveling or anything. You want to know the forecast. We are looking at a chance of a few showers and storms through the rest of today into our Saturday with the driest day coming on Sunday and then another chance Monday afternoon into the evening. It's trending a little bit wetter for our Memorial Day. So we'll have to watch that. I think at this point, let's say you're planning on heading to the Lake Monday afternoon into the evening. You may wanna just bear that in mind that we could see some storms. Of course, if there's lightning, there's rainfall, you may want to come off the water. We'll talk about that here in a second, we go to the 8485 degree range or so. This afternoon, it will be a little bit cooler. Relatively speaking, compared to where we were yesterday in the low nineties level one risk though, like is going to be typical as we head into the summertime months. This is saying there's a chance of a few strong severe storms south of the triangle. This is not something that we put out. It's what the storm prediction center in Norman Oklahoma puts out. Kind of when they look at all the ingredients. It's just saying there's a few showers and storms that could be on the stronger side. Maybe some gusty winds here into this evening. There's a look at futurecast though. We get a bit of a lull as we head into the early part of the afternoon, maybe a little bit more shower and storm activity trying to come through this afternoon. If you're hitting the roads tonight, I think overall you'll be ok, but there still could be the chance for the stray storm. Maybe a shower. We get too early tomorrow morning. There's going to be a thunderstorm complex though down into South Carolina. So it may be a little bit unsettled down there. We should start off relatively calm. We get into the afternoon and that's when our chance yet again of some storms comes through. We are not though under a severe risk tomorrow. It's just regular old showers and storms if you're heading out to the golf course, for instance, and there's a lightning or something like that, just keep it in mind. That's a good time to come off the course and, and take a break. We look at our tropical outlook though. We are seeing a 10% chance of development on this guy that's kind of heading northeast there of Cuba. This is not going to develop at this point. It's just kind of a reminder that we're getting close to hurricane season, which starts on June 1st 85 for us tomorrow, 87 Saturday 91 on Sunday. And then it looks beautiful by the time we get into middle parts of next week, Wednesday, Thursday dropping into the seventies by the time we get to Thursday afternoon.</p>
