Born in the bustling city of Fushun in Northern China and raised between Singapore and the United States, Jaylious is a DJ and music producer on a mission—fusing cinematic horror, emotional rhythms, and his own infectious personality into music that makes you feel.
For Jaylious, music wasn’t just a hobby—it was a lifeline. When he and his mother moved to Singapore, she worked tirelessly to provide for their future, often leaving him to explore his imagination alone. “I spent hours with my MP3 player, listening to Final Fantasy soundtracks and Rihanna. I’d wave my hands like a conductor, feeling the music in my bones,” Jaylious recalls.
But it wasn’t just the classics that captivated him. Around 2006, a game called MapleStory changed everything. “The music in that game was so mesmerizing—each map had its own atmosphere. I was fascinated by how sound could create entire worlds.”
At 14, Jaylious moved to the United States, where a saxophone would soon steal his heart. “My mom used to play Careless Whisper by George Michael, and I remember asking her, ‘What’s that instrument?’ The answer changed everything,” he shares. His mom surprised him with his very first saxophone, sparking years of dedication to music. Jaylious dove headfirst into middle school and high school bands, becoming the percussion captain of his marching band and earning a spot in the 2010 Coachella Valley Honor Band.
Though he stepped away from the saxophone to focus on academics in college, music remained a constant companion. It was during this time that he discovered electronic dance music(EDM). “I started experimenting on GarageBand on my iPad, making beats as I studied. EDM reminded me of the electronic vibes in MapleStory, and I felt this pull to explore it further.”

Jaylious is reshaping the electronic dance music scene with a signature style that amalgamates dark, immersive cinematic sounds and atmospheric elements with catchy, danceable beats. His emotionally charged compositions feel like vivid movie scenes you can dance to. By weaving in horror-inspired effects and playful twists, he not only captures raw emotion but also infuses each track with his vibrant personality, delivering moments that surprise and captivate listeners.
The Moment that Shaped His Music
In 2023, Jaylious faced a profound loss when his beloved dog, who had been his companion through some of his darkest times, passed away. The bond they shared was more than just that of a pet and owner—it was a connection that grounded him through years of personal struggles and triumphs. His dog was a constant presence, offering comfort and unconditional love.
“When he passed, it was like a piece of me went with him. I didn’t know how to cope with that emptiness, so I turned to music. The emotions I felt—grief, nostalgia, and love—poured into my tracks. Music became my therapy. It helped me express things I couldn’t put into words,” Jaylious reflects.
This deep loss became a driving force behind Jaylious' music. “I wanted to honor him through the music I created. He taught me what it meant to love deeply, to stay loyal, and to keep moving forward even in the hardest times.”
Proudest Moments and Big Dreams
For Jaylious, seeing his music connect with listeners worldwide has been his proudest achievement. “It’s wild to know my songs are traveling to places I’ve never been,” he laughs. “Whether it’s making someone happy or terrified to go out alone at night—my music creates emotions, and I love that!”
And now, Jaylious is gearing up to release his most personal project yet—an upcoming EP that promises to leave fans both moved and amazed. “This EP is heartfelt and emotional—it’s like pouring my soul into every track. I hope it will make someone’s day.” His upcoming EP, which is a tribute to his late dog. It’s a testament to their bond and a way for Jaylious to honor his memory by creating something that continues to move people.
His vision remains clear: to help listeners embrace their feelings. “Music can turn your entire day around. You can’t help but dance when the right song comes on. That’s the magic I want to create.”
And for the future? Performing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, a dream tied to his hometown. “That stage holds so much meaning for me. I hope to bring my music full circle and perform there one day.”
