The basic functions of packaging machinery

Packaging is essential for products entering the market, and the primary means of achieving this is through the use of Packaging Machinery.

With the development of the times and advancements in technology, packaging machinery is playing an increasingly important role in the packaging industry. Its key benefits are as follows:

  1. It significantly improves labor productivity. Mechanical packaging is much faster than manual packaging. For example, manual packaging of candies can only pack a dozen or so pieces per minute, while candy packaging machines can produce hundreds or even thousands of pieces per minute, increasing efficiency by dozens of times.

  2. It effectively ensures packaging quality. Mechanical packaging can produce consistent packaging according to the required shape and size of the packaged item, a guarantee that cannot be achieved by manual packaging. This is particularly important for export products. Only mechanical packaging can achieve standardized packaging that meets the requirements of collective packaging.

  3. It can perform operations that are impossible with manual packaging. Some packaging operations, such as Vacuum Packaging, air-filled packaging, skin packaging, and isobaric filling, are impossible with manual packaging and can only be accomplished with mechanical packaging. 4. Reduces labor intensity and improves working conditions. Manual packaging is very labor-intensive. For example, packaging large and heavy products is physically demanding and unsafe. For lightweight products, the high frequency and monotonous movements can easily lead to occupational diseases.

  4. Improves worker protection. For certain products that pose serious health risks, such as those with high dust content, toxic products, irritants, or radioactive materials, manual packaging inevitably poses health risks. Mechanical packaging can avoid these risks and effectively protect the environment.

  5. Reduces packaging costs and storage and transportation expenses. For loose products such as cotton, tobacco, silk, and linen, using compression packaging machines can significantly reduce their volume, thereby lowering packaging costs. This significant reduction in volume also saves warehouse space and reduces storage costs, facilitating transportation.

  6. Reliably ensures product hygiene. According to health laws, manual packaging of certain products, such as food and medicine, is prohibited due to the risk of contamination. Mechanical packaging, however, prevents direct contact between human hands and food and medicine, ensuring hygienic quality.

  7. It can promote the development of related industries. Packaging machinery is a comprehensive science, involving multiple disciplines, including materials, processes, equipment, electronics, electrical appliances, and automatic control. This requires the synchronized and coordinated development of all these disciplines. Problems in any discipline will affect the overall performance of packaging machinery. Therefore, the development of packaging machinery will strongly promote the advancement of related disciplines.

In addition, to meet the high-speed packaging requirements of packaging machinery, its related upstream and downstream processes must also adapt to this trend, thus promoting the synchronized development of these processes.
