Yah'leanah Wall Signed as DP for The Red Head, WWII Resistance Drama Directed by Timothy Hines
Yah'leanah Wall joins the important and powerful production about WWII resistance fighter, Hannie Schaft, entitled The Red Head. Lensing begins late fall.
A bold new vision is taking shape for the highly anticipated WWII feature film The Red Head, as producers announce that Yah’leanah Wall has officially joined the project as cinematographer.

Cinematographer Yah’leanah Wall has officially joined the The Red Head project as DP.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Directed by Timothy Hines (10 Days in a Madhouse), produced by Susan Goforth (Tomorrow’s Today, Chrome the Series), and executive produced by Kimberly Olson, with Andy Hundis (The Wilde Girls) serving as producer, The Red Head is scheduled to begin principal photography late this fall. The film tells the harrowing and heroic true story of Dutch resistance fighter Hannie Schaft, the young woman with flaming red hair who defied the Nazis and became a symbol of hope in one of history’s darkest eras.

Cinematographer Yah’leanah Wall brings a striking visual style and powerful emotional instinct to the camera. Known for her bold compositions and evocative lighting, Wall's passion for storytelling through imagery made her the top choice for the filmmakers.

“I chose Yah’leanah Wall because her work stood out to me in a way I haven’t seen in years,” said director Timothy Hines. “Beyond her acute technical attention to detail, Yah’leanah's artistic style is rare and powerful. I want each film I create to have a distinct stamp of color and texture that supports the story. Yah'leanah is gifted in understanding how her lights and color influence the audience's emotion in the moment. And we click, artistically. That’s the most important aspect of a working relationship between a cinematographer and a director.”

Wall’s visual storytelling, grounded in emotional truth, is expected to elevate The Red Head from a historical biopic to an unforgettable cinematic experience.

Behind the Scenes: A Powerhouse Creative Team

Joining Wall is returning collaborator Jenni Manus as property master—her second film with Hines and Goforth following The Wilde Girls, which is scheduled for a Christmas release on major world wide streaming platforms, and earned glowing reviews during its theatrical run in New York and Los Angeles in June. Susan Goforth says about Ms. Manus, "Jeni has a strong connection to the past and how the world ran in the old days. She upgraded The Wilde Girls, set in 1932, by supplying nearly entirely authentic 1930s props. Our phone was an actual 1930s dial up, the scythes and milk jugs, the blankets and hats were all authentic. It was like filming back in time."

The Red Head is currently casting and assembling a dedicated, top-tier indie production team committed to historical authenticity, emotional depth, and narrative urgency.

About the Film: The Red Head

The Red Head is a socially responsible, emotionally explosive historical drama that thrusts audiences into the brutal reality of 1943 Nazi-occupied Netherlands. The film follows Jannetje Johanna “Jo” Schaft, a young law student who transforms into the legendary resistance fighter known as “the girl with the red hair.” Through sabotage, espionage, and targeted assassinations of Nazi collaborators, Schaft risked everything to resist fascism—and paid the ultimate price.

“This is more than a movie. It’s a mission,” said producer Susan Goforth. “We’re telling the true story of a young woman who stood up to tyranny and fought for what was right, even when it meant sacrificing her own life.”

Why This Story Matters Now

As the world continues to confront rising authoritarianism and social injustice, The Red Head is more relevant than ever. Hannie Schaft’s courage—her refusal to be silent in the face of evil—serves as a rallying cry for a new generation.

“Her story echoes through history,” adds producer Susan Goforth. “It reminds us that even in the darkest of times, resistance is possible.”
