Prospector Popcorn Wins 2025 Best New Product Award from Convenience Store News (CSN) for Superstar Crunch

A gourmet popcorn flavor created for Autism Acceptance Month gains broad appeal.

RIDGEFIELD, CT / ACCESS Newswire / November 4, 2025 / Prospector Popcorn's Superstar Crunch, a distinctive gourmet popcorn flavor featuring Classic Caramel popcorn with the nostalgic taste of a fudge brownie drizzled with dark chocolate and topped with candy-coated chips, has been selected as one of Convenience Store News' Best New Products of 2025.

Superstar Crunch was chosen in the category of Salty Snacks: Ready-To-Eat Popcorn, and is featured in CSN's October Innovators issue, recognized as one of the most innovative, high-quality products in the convenience channel. Entries were evaluated by a panel of consumers according to key criteria including taste, value, convenience, ingredients, packaging, and appearance.

"This award is about delicious, hand-crafted, small-batch, gourmet popcorn packed with sweet and savory perfection, and about the talent, creativity, dedication and sparkle that Prospects contribute on a daily basis to producing it," said Adam Ingberman, Director of Marketing at Prospector Popcorn. "We're grateful to have a team that has mastered the art of gourmet popcorn and turned a beloved treat into an engine of meaningful employment for people with disabilities."

Prospector Popcorn was born from behind a concession stand at The Prospector, a nonprofit, first-run movie theater founded in 2014 in Ridgefield, Connecticut, to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through meaningful employment. Employees of the Prospector are known as Prospects, and approximately 75 percent self-identify with a disability.

Forced to temporarily close the theater during the COVID pandemic, the organization pivoted to selling its homemade gourmet popcorn through e-commerce. The popcorn brand's success has driven significant growth for the organization.

With Prospector Popcorn increasingly popping up in regional supermarkets, professional sports stadiums and more than 360 hotels nationally, the organization is expanding its popcorn operations from a 325 sq ft. kitchen to a new 5,000 sq ft. production facility set to open soon. The new space will allow The Prospector to meet demand and innovate with new and exciting flavors.
