W. R. Berkley Corporation Names Scott M. McDonough President of Midwest Employers Casualty

W. R. Berkley Corporation (NYSE: WRB) today announced the appointment of Scott M. McDonough as president of Midwest Employers Casualty (MEC). He succeeds Timothy Galvin, who has been named chairman of MEC. The appointments are effective immediately.

Mr. McDonough is a proven executive with more than 35 years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience in underwriting and management. He most recently served as the head of a large division at another leading U.S. insurance group. Over the years, he has demonstrated a strong track record of developing top-performing organizations with deep expertise that deliver consistently profitable growth. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama and the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Mr. Galvin joined MEC as president in 2013. He has been instrumental in advancing MEC as a leader in the excess workers’ compensation insurance market over the last decade. As chairman, he will continue to support the MEC team with insights and strategic guidance. In addition, he will remain a key member of the W. R. Berkley Corporation team.
