I Squared Capital, a leading independent global infrastructure investment manager, today announced that Jonathan Popper will be joining the firm as Fund Partner and Head of Asset Management and Value Creation for the Americas.

Jon joins from Temasek, Singapore’s state-owned investment company, where he was a Managing Director since 2013. He most recently served as Managing Director (Portfolio Development), with responsibility for engagement with Temasek portfolio companies on matters of value creation, including strategy, operations, finance and capital structure, M&A, organizational development and compensation. Previously, he served as Managing Director (Investment), with responsibility for Temasek’s investments in the business services sector, and as Managing Director (Structuring & Execution), with responsibility for advising Temasek investment teams on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, financings and other transactions.

Prior to Temasek, Jon was with Morgan Stanley where he served as Managing Director and Head of Southeast Asia M&A. Before joining Morgan Stanley, Jon was an investment professional at Bassini Playfair + Associates, a private equity firm focused on emerging markets, based in New York and São Paulo.

Jon takes on this role from Ron Schweizer who has been appointed Head of Corporate Strategy for I Squared, a new position for the firm.

Jon is the second Fund Partner to join I Squared in as many months. In March, I Squared announced the appointment of Yves Meyer Bulow as Fund Partner and Office head for the firm’s new Munich office.

Prior to joining I Squared, Jonathan Popper was Managing Director at Temasek since 2013. Mr. Popper’s experience at Morgan Stanley spanned a broad range of advisory assignments for clients across industries and countries. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Popper was an investment professional at Bassini Playfair + Associates, a private equity firm focused on emerging markets, based in New York and São Paulo.

Mr. Popper is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar. Mr Popper is a CFA charterholder, and he has received Qualified Listed Entity Director certification and Senior Director accreditation from the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID).
