Now in its 16th year, Wattpad’s largest annual international writing competition crowns standout stories in English, Filipino, Spanish, and Portuguese

Wattpad, a leading global webnovel platform and storytelling community, today revealed the 2025 winners of its annual international writing competition, the Watty Awards. Now in its 16th year, the Wattys celebrate new voices in fiction, recognizing some of the most creative, imaginative, and dedicated storytellers on Wattpad.

For the first time, a new Community Voting feature gave readers a chance to cast their vote for stand-out stories alongside Wattpad’s judging team of content experts. With the help of over ten thousand user votes, Wattpad’s content experts recognized forty stories this year across English, Filipino, Spanish, and Portuguese entries.

Four outstanding writers were recognized with a Wattys Grand Prize each language, each receiving a USD $5,000 cash prize. Chosen from thousands of submissions, these stories distinguished themselves through exceptional storytelling:

• @honeyczmb’s Behind the Camera (English): A sapphic romance about hockey star Amelia Bennett, who is pushed into a fake relationship with photographer Harper Lane to quiet a growing scandal, only to discover unexpected headlines and even more unexpected feelings.
• @Bankiva’s Abrojo (Spanish): A heartfelt tale following a panda, raccoon, and rooster who band together in a world where animals speak and live alongside humans, to fight for their freedom and their future.
• @ad_sesa’s The Fallen Temptress (Filipino): The story of Aysla Larquin, a devastated movie star who steps away from fame and unexpectedly finds herself on the path to healing and love.
• @LazMorcega’s Assassinato no Parque Brito (Portuguese): A gripping mystery that follows investigator Cassandra as she uncovers the truth behind a body found floating in the waters of a quiet Brazilian town.

All Watty Awards winners will receive a Wattys recognition badge for their winning story, promotion to millions of readers around the world on the official Wattys profile on Wattpad, and priority consideration for series, film, and publishing opportunities with WEBTOON Productions and more.
