General Assembly Offers Veterans and Military Spouses Tech Skills Training and Career Coaching Through Employer-Sponsored Program

Project Forge empowers veterans with critical technical skills and support network to thrive in cybersecurity, engineering, UX design and data analytics careers

General Assembly, the leading talent and upskilling community, today announced the launch of Project Forge, a new initiative to create high-impact career pathways for United States military veterans and their spouses in cybersecurity, data, engineering and UX design.

“Veterans bring valuable skills like leadership, adaptability, systems thinking and mission readiness to employers,” said Ben Porter, U.S. Navy Veteran and Director of Veteran and Employer Partnerships at General Assembly. “Veterans and military spouses deserve training that respects their experience and helps them gain job-ready skills to transition into a thriving civilian career without a four-year degree–and that’s where General Assembly comes in.”

General Assembly will offer tuition-free, expert-led training and connect veterans and military spouses to on-the-job learning opportunities through direct employer partnerships in an effort to help them transition into meaningful civilian careers in high-demand tech fields.

Veteran and military spouse talent will be onboarded into new technology roles via General Assembly’s Hire-Train-Deploy solution, with the option to convert into full-time roles after 12 months. General Assembly will also provide veterans with personalized career coaching and mentorship.

“Transitioning out of the military can be isolating,” said Porter. “That’s why we support veteran learners with a network of coaches, mentors and fellow veterans who understand the experience.”

Employers interested in hiring veterans and military spouses or providing mentorship via the General Assembly program can also get in touch here.
