National Vision Celebrates 11 Years of Supporting NOSA Students with $7,000 in Scholarships

Three Students Recognized for Their Insightful Reflections on the Role of Eye Health in Educational and Economic Opportunity

National Vision, Inc., one of the nation’s largest optical retailers providing quality, affordable eye care and eyewear, has awarded $7,000 in scholarships to three optometry students whose passion for community impact and commitment to vision equity stood out among this year’s applicants for the National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) scholarship program.

This year’s prompt challenged students to explore the link between vision health and success in school and the workplace, particularly in underserved communities where access to care remains limited. Submissions included essays and videos offering compelling personal perspectives, practical solutions and a shared belief in optometry’s power to change lives.

“These students exemplify what it means to lead with both clinical skill and compassion,” said Alexander Smith, O.D., Head of Doctor Network at National Vision. “Their ideas reflect the real-world challenges people face when vision care is out of reach, and the incredible potential optometrists have to bridge that gap.”

The 2025 National Vision NOSA Scholarship recipients are:

  • First Place ($4,000): Dominica Dzakah, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Class of 2025
  • Second Place ($2,000): Antoinette Kanayo, University of Houston College of Optometry, Class of 2027
  • Third Place ($1,000): Monica Thu Do, UC Berkeley Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science, Class of 2027

The 2025 winners were awarded their scholarships at this year’s National Optometric Association (NOA) Convention, held July 17 through July 20 in Columbus, Ohio, where their contributions were celebrated among peers and leaders in the field.

“This scholarship is about more than financial support—it’s about investing in future doctors who are already stepping up to make a difference,” Smith added. “We can’t wait to see what these students accomplish next.”

Since launching the scholarship in 2015, National Vision has honored NOSA members who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement and a dedication to serving minority and underserved populations. The program reinforces National Vision’s mission to make quality eye care and eyewear more accessible while championing the next generation of leaders in optometry.
