Susan G. Komen® Announces CEO Paula Schneider to Step Down

Schneider to Assume New Role as Honorary Vice Chair

Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, today announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Paula Schneider has shared that she will step down from the CEO role after seven years of transformational leadership. Schneider will continue to serve the organization as Honorary Vice Chair, using her renowned and respected voice to support the urgent mission to end deaths from breast cancer in our lifetime.

During her tenure, Schneider led Komen through a critical period, transforming Komen’s national network of local affiliate organizations into a single, unified entity to increase efficiency and impact across the country. Under her leadership, Komen accelerated research, advocacy, community outreach, and patient care, leaving the organization well-positioned for future success. To date, Komen has invested more than $3.5 billion in these critical areas, advancing its mission to save lives and to prevent and cure breast cancer.

“I’m enormously proud of the meaningful work our team has done and the progress we’ve made in our shared mission to save lives,” said Paula Schneider. “Our mission has never been more urgent. In my new role at Komen, I will focus on continuing to broadcast our message to extend our reach and heighten our impact.”

“The Board of Directors is deeply grateful to Paula for her exceptional service and unwavering commitment to Komen’s mission,” said the Chair of the Board of Directors, Ed Dandridge. “Her leadership has been instrumental in transforming this organization. Komen is well-positioned to enter its next chapter, and we look forward to identifying the leader who will follow in her footsteps to guide Komen’s continued transformation.”

During the leadership transition, a committee comprised of Komen board members and Komen senior leaders will guide Komen’s executive responsibilities while the Board conducts a national search for a successor. This collaborative interim leadership model ensures continuity, stability, and continued momentum across the organization’s mission priorities.

The leadership succession comes at a time of strength for Susan G. Komen – which has a clear mission, a pivotal role in supporting breakthrough research and the unwavering respect and support of the breast cancer community. Schneider will remain a visible presence at Komen events, thought leadership forums, and community initiatives.
