Chaptr Launches Family Storytelling Platform to Preserve Real Voices for Future Generations

By: Get News
Chaptr introduces a new platform that allows families to record authentic conversations and create a private, searchable journal of memories and wisdom.

Chaptr today announced the launch of its family storytelling platform, designed to help families capture authentic voices and experiences in a secure digital space. The launch marks a step forward in how families document and share personal history through technology.

The platform enables families to record spoken memories and reflections using simple, guided prompts. Each recording is transcribed automatically and stored in a living, searchable family journal, allowing future generations to revisit meaningful moments with ease.

“Chaptr was built to spark connection, laughter, and reflection — capturing real voices today so their wisdom lives on,” said Jim Edmondson, Founder of Chaptr. “The goal is to make storytelling simple while ensuring that family voices and experiences remain accessible for generations.”

For example, a parent might record themselves reading a favourite Roald Dahl story so that their children — and their children’s children — can one day hear the same voices and characters that once filled a childhood with joy. Small, familiar moments like these show how Chaptr turns everyday life into lasting memories.

Users can:

- Ask: Access a library of gentle prompts such as “What advice would you give your younger self?” or “What makes you proud of your family?”

- Record: Capture stories naturally in video or audio, from everyday reflections to treasured traditions.

- Preserve: Each recording is stored privately and indexed so families can search by theme, emotion, or keyword such as holiday, first job, or love.

This searchable capability distinguishes Chaptr from conventional memory-keeping tools, turning family archives into interactive collections of voice and knowledge.

The concept has attracted interest from prominent storytellers, including bestselling historian and broadcaster James Holland, who praised the idea:

“I think Chaptr is just such a brilliant idea,” said Holland. “I’ve been fortunate enough to interview hundreds of veterans from the Second World War about their experiences, but capturing wisdom, knowledge, and experience from our own families — our parents and grandparents — is invaluable. To revisit that later in life and hear them speak in their own voice is absolutely incredible and certainly something I want to be part of.”

Chaptr is now inviting early supporters to become Founder Members, contributing to the development of the platform and gaining early access to new features. Founder Members receive lifetime access at launch, participation in the private beta, their family name recorded in the Founders Archive, and ongoing product updates.
