Attorney William Gee Urges Injury Victims to Choose Experienced Legal Help When the Stakes Are High

Gee shares key steps injury victims can take on their own to pick the right attorney and protect their future.

Veteran personal injury attorney William Gee is calling for greater public awareness around how injury victims choose legal representation, stressing that the right attorney can drastically influence the outcome of a case—especially when medical bills, long recoveries, and major losses are involved.

Gee, known for his dedicated client service and a track record that includes verdicts exceeding one hundred million dollars, says many people select attorneys with limited information and do not know what questions to ask.

“When someone is hurt, life gets messy fast,” Gee said. “People feel stressed, overwhelmed, and unsure who to trust. I’ve seen clients come to me after speaking with three or four attorneys who missed the most important facts. A solid attorney should make the picture clearer, not more confusing.”

Research supports the need for better guidance. The American Bar Association found that attorneys with more than ten years of injury-law experience settle cases more efficiently and secure higher compensation on average. Still, many injured people face pressure to choose quickly or rely on referrals that don’t match their needs.

Experience and Communication Are Key, Gee Says

Gee stresses that experience in high stakes cases is essential. Not all injuries are minor, and complex cases often involve long-term medical care, expert testimony, and detailed investigations.

Communication is another major factor. Studies from the Legal Services Corporation show that clients who receive consistent updates are more satisfied and more prepared to support their own case.

Gee shared an anecdote about a frustrated client: “He showed up with a thick folder of notes because his last attorney never explained anything. He thought he had to figure out the case on his own. No one should feel that way.”

Details Matter More Than People Realize

According to Gee, strong injury cases often hinge on small but important details—a missing medical record, a broken step, a worn piece of equipment.

Gee encourages injury victims to watch how attorneys handle their first meeting. Do they ask about doctors? Witnesses? The exact scene? A lack of curiosity early often signals weak attention later.

Care, Honesty, and Preparation Build Strong Cases

Gee emphasizes that clients should feel like people, not case numbers. Small gestures—quick follow-ups, remembering details, checking on recovery—show whether an attorney has the focus and time to give a case proper attention.

He warns against attorneys who promise fast results or guaranteed outcomes. “Honesty matters. A strong attorney tells you what’s possible, what’s challenging, and what steps will make your case stronger.”

Preparation is equally important. Studies show that cases prepared as if they could go to trial often settle for higher amounts because companies take them more seriously.

According to Gee, victims should feel comfortable asking attorneys how they prepare: “A good attorney can walk you through their process clearly. If someone dodges the question, that’s a red flag.”

Steps Anyone Can Take Right Now

Gee urges injury victims—and their families—to take simple steps before choosing an attorney:

  • Ask about experience with serious cases

  • Pay attention to communication style

  • Check for interest in details

  • Look for genuine care and honesty

  • Understand how fees work

  • Ask how cases are prepared

  • Read reviews and look for consistent themes

“You don’t have to be a legal expert,” Gee said. “You just need to ask the right questions. When the stakes are high, the right attorney can change the entire path of your recovery.”
