By: Get News

On the evening of June 28, 2025, the National Auditorium Symphonic Hall witnessed a historic moment as 11-year-old violin virtuoso Sherry Tse from Hong Kong, China, delivered a spellbinding performance of Saint-Saëns' "Havanaise" with the Madrid Atlantida Chamber Orchestra under the baton of maestro Manuel Tevar. The concert, attended by about 2,000 enraptured audience members, culminated in a thunderous standing ovation for the young soloist.

Born in September 2013, Sherry began violin studies at age four under Professor Robert Canetti. Her extraordinary trajectory includes attaining the ABRSM Grade 8 violin certification with Distinction at seven, earning a scholarship to the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and acceptance at age ten into the prestigious High-Level Master Classes at Switzerland’s Tiziano Rossetti International Music Academy. Currently pursuing her College Artistic Diploma, Sherry has already completed the Artistic Junior Diploma.

Sherry made her orchestral debut performing Mozart at age eight. Since then, she has graced stages including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Vienna’s Musikverein Golden Hall, Budapest’s Liszt Academy, Madrid National Auditorium, Salzburg’s Mozarteum, Saigon Opera House, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, ... etc. She has collaborated with eminent ensembles such as the Sofia Philharmonic, Savaria Symphony Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Madrid Atlantida Chamber Orchestra, Saigon Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, working with conductors including Ernest Hoetzl, Nayden Todorov, Manuel Tevar, Daniel Geiss, Massimo Belli, Lio Kuokman, Fan Ting.

Her trophy cabinet gleams with top honors: First Absolute Prize at the 5th Tiziano Rossetti International Music Competition (Switzerland), First Prize at the 2024 Beethoven Young Musician Competition (Vienna), Gold Prize and "Best String Player" at the Amadeus International Music Awards (Salzburg), First Prize at the London Classical Music Competition, and victories at the American International Music Competition (Cleveland 2024), International BTHVN Wien Competition, and New York Golden Classical Music Awards (with Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize).

Beyond competitions, Sherry appeared on China Central Television in 2023 and performed at charity events, including Oxfam concerts. International media coverage spans Fox40, The Globe and Mail, China Sina News, and Phoenix Network.

Reflecting on her Madrid debut, conductor Manuel Tevar remarked: "Sherry possesses a rare blend of technical mastery and emotional intelligence. Her interpretation of ‘Havanaise’ was not just flawless – it was storytelling through the violin." As the youngest soloist to headline at the National Auditorium this season, Sherry Tse has cemented her status as a rising global star in classical music.
