About the Author
Jay Aye is the pen name of John (Jack) Austermann Jr., whose life journey reflects the heart of Americana. Raised with strong agricultural roots and guided by the hands of two farmer grandfathers, he spent summers working the land during the waning days of World War II. He later worked on Detroit's auto assembly lines before serving in Korea from 1951 to 1953.
Following his military service, Austermann began a four-decade career as an Automotive Design Engineer. Upon retirement, he settled in South Carolina, embracing 27 years of life in the Deep South, including 20 years of bi-weekly hikes through the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Now in his writing years, he brings to life the stories he once told to neighborhood children, tales filled with meaning, mischief, and messages to help young readers better understand the world around them.
