Jordan's “The Pied Piper” Ready to Thrill Booklovers at 2022 ALA Conference and Exhibition

By: WebWire

ReadersMagnet features Alvin E. Jordan Sr.'s fantasy mystery book “The Pied Piper” at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition on June 24-27, 2022, exhibit booth 1147, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C.

“It seems that politicians and public officials are sometimes the cause for the enigmas of men. Directly or indirectly. Mostly they do pretty well…, but sometimes they do bad. This tale is not significantly about politicians. It is about… RATS! The kind with four legs, and the old kind…, with two!” Alvin E. Jordan Sr.,.

At the age of 16, the talented author Alvin E. Jordan Sr. was introduced to a type of writing that seemed to excite him - journalism. It sparked a slew of new ideas for articles and stories. The meeting was held in the Dallas Boys' Club, which had recently opened. “Mrs. Tipton,” the Club's Educational Director, taught him the “guts” of newspaper writing. As a writer for the club newspaper “The Boys' Club Bugle,” thus, he found his own writing style.

Fantasy books are meant to stimulate the reader's imagination, and the author effectively did that. Jordan successfully enthralls readers with his fascinating work “The Pied Piper” as the plot puts them on the edge of their seats, compelling them to continuously get intrigued and excited to know how the story goes.

About The Author:
Born on Dallas' West side, Alvin E. Jordan, as a fifth-grader, began the whole bit of his writing. It was poetry that he was “hooked” on. He walked around the yards and halls of the George Washington Carver Elementary School… with a notebook entitled “Poems from A to Z,” which seemed to always be in his hands. At age thirteen, he had written his first short story, a sort of coming-of-age fictionary, about adolescence… and the things that he experienced as a boy, growing up at the time. Two years later, on the campus of the L.G. Pinkston High School, in his English I class, his teacher, Miss Frances Johnson, held a Poetry Contest.

Jordan's submission won 2nd place. However, the winning piece was also written by him. A poem he had written two months before the contest was even thought of. He had given it to a classmate. Without his knowledge, she submitted the work as her own. The discovery of this brought amazement to Miss Johnson. She was almost always on Alvin due to his “slouching” posture while attending her class. “Sit up, Jordan.” she would say. He heard this about three to four times during the class period. The very next day, she laid down the law. “No more slouching in my classroom.”

As an employee of the Dallas Boys' Club, Inc., he resigned from his newly appointed position as the Athletic/Aquatics Director, pursuing a career in Child Development Education. Spending 16 years as a “caregiver,” dealing with children from 6 – 18 years of age, he found that working with children between the ages of 2 – 6, though it was a more “delicate” venture, was also satisfying. As a teacher, this helped to develop his story-telling abilities; most of all, it got him back to writing. The first of his creations, “The Tales of Prince Jack,” was the gateway to his first play, “The Magic Muffin.” Now, he's on his way.
