Brett Cantrell Brings Back the Classic Comics in the Relaunch of His Compelling Book, “The American vs Amabo”

By: WebWire

Brett Andrew Cantrell, a native of Lubbock, Texas, enjoys the gifts of creativity in writing and drawing. To create an avenue to voice his discontent about our crumbling society, he has crafted a superhero and a story that will compel patriotism in every American. He draws readers back to the heart of the Constitution and the values that made the United States of America a great nation in his comic book, “The American vs. Amabo.”

Brett had never been a political person until he witnessed the country disintegrate in front of his eyes. Since2012, he wanted to create a patriotic hero who genuinely symbolizes the Constitution, hard workers, law-abiding citizens, and Americans who care about the country.

The American is a hero who stands for all races, and he represents the colors red, white, and blue. The American is a protector who stands up to an unlawful president and a dishonest administration bent on political gain, whose minions would trample on unwitting Americans. He does not identify as a Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian, and he is not a member of any political party. The patriotic mystery man defends the underprivileged and protects the helpless while upholding the American Constitution.

The book brings in nostalgia, especially for avid comic readers of the 20th Century. Brett personally designed his characters, and his illustrations are classic cartoons with the panels laid in basic square grids, often full of more dialogue than imagery. More so, Brett captures the heart of patriotism and amalgamates it with his creativity to produce a book that will entertain and inspire.

About the Author:
Brett Cantrell was born in Lubbock, TX from a highly successful architect and pilot father and a bright, athletic school teacher mother with two talented older brothers that formed a wonderful family.

A graduate of Monterey High School Brett earned his BFA degree in Design Communications from Texas Tech University. Since the fourth grade, Brett has created and drawn numerous comic book characters and developed stories related to them. In the '80's, he created a super team called Enforcers, Inc. inspired by the Avengers and Justice Machine. During his college years, he acquired a part-time job in screen printing, design, and later management at Hub City Graphics. He later earned an art department staff position at Lubbock Avalanche Journal. After one year, Brett left the newspaper business and served in the U.S. Navy as a signalman on board the U.S.S. Nimitz during Desert Storm. In 1991, he created Navy Man, Landshark, M.I.K.E., the Executor, and the Stars of Freedom, based on the signalman crew.

After 4 years of service with an honorable discharge from the military, Brett enrolled in a one year program in desktop publishing at the Art Institute of Seattle. He graduated in 1994 and worked briefly in animation, screen printing, and delivery work. In 1996, Brett formed Apex Grafix, a one man comic book company on a limited budget. He published his first comic flip book, Executor/Femme Fatale #1. In 1997, #2 came out with limited success and no distribution. In 1998, he created, written, and drawn Madame X and Nicholei's Star. The book was packaged together as Apex Golden Age and sold limited copies at conventions and through friends, family, Cartoonists North West members, and strangers who liked comics.

In 1999, Cantrell and a good business associate hired 3 beautiful models to dress as members of the Femme Fatale and Brett donned the cowl of the Executor. They all rented a van with books, artwork and models in tow and drove from Seattle Washington to Eugene, Oregon and were an instant smash success at the Eugene Comic-Con.

In 2000, Brett's mother's 50th high school reunion of the Coleman Blue Cats came and the creation of a one-time comic book, Apex Grafix Presents: Blue-Cat #1 was published. It was a success at the reunion and was sold on mail order. 2003, the Succubus of Liberty was published in extreme limited run. In 2011, the 70th Anniversary of Timely's (Marvel) USA Comics #1 and the unpublished USA Defender was produced. Early 2012 came the year of All-American Force and the birth of the American.

After this book's publication, Brett will produce various unpublished stories and create new and exciting work for readers to enjoy.
