Wayne Scott Harral's new astral science-fiction book displayed at 2022 ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition

ReadersMagnet displayed Wayne Scott Harral's new science-fiction book, “Moon Luck”, at the 2022 ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition that was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center last June 24-27, 2022.

Harral released an intriguing new science-fiction book that took on the practicalities of life on the Moon while tackling the moral and ethical concerns that could arise. Harral prefaced his book by saying that living on other celestial bodies besides Earth will be inevitable in the near future. This is the premise that his book relied on. This is why when he wrote the book, he used a settlement on the Moon established by a team of international scientists as the main setting.

The novel takes place in the not-too-distant future, 2039, a time that even with current technology we could build settlements on the Moon and live there for extended periods of time. A group of 30 astronauts, composed of scientists and explorers from the US, Europe and Asia, have been living on the Moon. There, they were tasked with exploring the surface and preparing it for expanded human habitation.

However, an explosion occurs on the moon base. The explosion, that occurs in one of the maintenance modules, kills one of the senior officers. No one else is hurt or injured and the damage is confined. Upon investigation it is discovered the explosion might not have been and accident. The victim did not seem to be the perpetrator of the explosion but was unfortunately in the module during the explosion.

The author begs the question, was the explosion an accident? Or was it planned? If it was planned, can the person responsible be ascertained? And, under current laws, is it murder if it was done on the moon?

On that note, he has traveled extensively, having visited some 40+ countries. And he is in the Italian Alps every year.
