Jean DeFreese Moore seeks to enrich lives with “A Father's Love,” a novel series on family and faith

By: WebWire

Jean DeFreese Moore delivers Hallmark Drama-worthy storytelling with strong emphases on the themes of faith, family, and service (vocation) in her novel series A Father's Love. The author has released four books to date, all published under Covenant Books: “A Father's Love: Faith and Family,” “A Father's Love: Justice and Forgiveness,” “A Father's Love: Joyous Hope,” and “A Father's Love: Sacrifice and Service.”

Classified as family, Christian fiction, and historical fiction, “A Father's Love” starts with the story of Travis Britt, who moves forward to rebuild his life and family after the Civil War. The series then follows with the lives of his children, and grandchildren through their turbulent times leading to World War I and the Spanish Flu pandemic (as of the fourth book).

In “Faith and Family,” Travis and his surviving daughter leave the mountains and Travis settles in Harris, Kansas. Due to his friendship with a federal marshal, Travis becomes a deputy federal marshal and, thus, is able to put down roots and start a new family. New challenges await him as he strives, with God's guidance, to protect his family and build a legacy of faith and forgiveness for his children.

The Britt family's story continues in “Justice and Forgiveness,” with Travis' youngest son Reid being the main focus of the narrative. Reid marries Chipeta, a beautiful Indian girl from the Ute tribe, and takes her home to his family in Harris. He entrusts his pregnant wife to the care of Travis as he leaves for Topeka to do a 'very dangerous' job for the Department of Justice.

Readers will find “Justice and Forgiveness” a thought-provoking read as it also deals with the themes of sexual assault, human trafficking, racism, and interracial relationships. The story also draws a brief reference to the story of Joseph and Mary in the Bible.

Reid's story continues in “Joyous Hope,” which primary focus falls on Reid, his oldest son Matt and other members of the Britt family. Matt prepares to leave for university in Chicago, where Reid was once beaten and left for dead during his fight against white slavery. Matt wants to study forensic science and perform autopsies because he is interested in both medicine and law. Will a local bank robbery change his plans?

“Joyous Hope” also tackles the challenges faced by William Stewart, Reid's nephew, who returns home penniless and seeks to recover his health and confidence. William's father, meanwhile, struggles with his own imperfections. Adam, William's brother, and Luke, Reid's brother, fight for justice and face dangers of their own.

The Britt family story becomes more compelling with “Sacrifice and Service.” Travis' grandchildren spread out to perform their medical vocations: four grandsons see action as medical volunteers in World War I, another grandson treats injured troops returning from France, while another battles the deadly Spanish Flu. Meanwhile, back home in Harris, Travis' sons work to protect the innocent from greedy, vengeful, and manipulative neighbors while facing both a local and a national conspiracy.

Read how the story of the Britt family unfolds amid the backdrop of American history in “A Father's Love: Faith and Family,” “A Father's Love: Justice and Forgiveness,” “A Father's Love: Joyous Hope,” and “A Father's Love: Sacrifice and Service.” Order a copy today on Jean DeFreese Moore's Amazon Page.
