Guyana Launches TVET Nail Training in Schools with NSI Guyana Support

NSI Guyana and the Ministry of Education have partnered to deliver nail technology training to 30 students across six Georgetown secondary schools, marking a major milestone in youth empowerment and creative careers.

-- For the first time in Guyana’s history, nail technology is now a formal skill being taught in secondary schools, thanks to a bold collaboration between NSI Nails Guyana "NSI Guyana" and the Ministry of Education (MOE). On July 9, 2025, the TVET Nail Technology Training Programme officially launched under the leadership of the TVET Unit, bringing real world, high demand beauty training to 30 students across six public schools in Georgetown. What started as a vision by the Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, is now a working model for technical education with real earning potential. Nail artistry is no longer just a hustle, it’s a profession, and Guyana is putting it on the CVQ map.

Students are learning that the nail technician is more than polish and glitter. It’s chemistry, hygiene, technique, and branding. It’s also a billion-dollar industry, and Guyanese students now have a seat at that table. The first 30 students, from Carmel, Freeburg, Lodge, East Ruimveldt, South Ruimveldt, and Dolphin Secondary, are getting their foundation right. They're using professional-grade, MMA-free, and HEMA-free NSI products, the same systems used in top salons across the Caribbean and North America.

Back in March 2025, five teachers joined the NSI Caricom Masterclass, led by Lexann McPhoy, a certified NSI Regional Educator. One more teacher and all 30 students are now getting hands-on training over the next three weeks. https://lexannnsi.com/blog/f/tvet-nail-training-in-schools-nsi-guyana-and-moe-aids-students

This programme is built by professionals who believe that TVET is the future of education. Thanks to Mrs. Marcia Paddy-Andrews, Assistant Chief Education Officer (Technical), and the dedicated team at the MOE’s TVET Unit for turning talk into action.

The progromme allows secondary school students to opportunity to gain marketable technical skills before graduating high school. The goal of the training is to give students the power to turn their talent into income before graduation.

When it comes to nail technician education, Lexann McPhoy is the real deal. With over 20 years of experience, she has trained hundreds of nail professionals both locally and regionally. Her mission? To make nail artistry eco-conscious, skill-based, and business-ready.

Through NSI Guyana, Lexann brings:

World-class, salon-quality NSI products

Certified training for teachers, salons, and schools

Business tools to help nail techs launch and grow profitable salons

She doesn’t just teach nails, she builds futures. “At NSI Guyana, students are equipped with skills and tools for success. Through the partnership with the TVET section of the MOE, students are provided with ‘a salon in a box’ with a full package that will put them on a path to income, independence, and a healthier beauty industry” said Lexann McPhoy, Managing Director of NSI Guyana

This program lays the foundation for CVQ certification in Nail Technology. That means students won’t just learn, they’ll graduate with skills that are regionally recognized. They’ll walk out of school with the confidence and competence to either start a career or open a business. Think about it: how many other school subjects come with that kind of direct income potential?

NSI Guyana also offers business opportunities for those interested in starting their own nail salons using NSI’s trusted eco-friendly systems. The Company equips clients with the products, training, and marketing support needed to thrive. This is how communities grow, through skilled hands and smart business.

NSI Guyana is seeking additional partners who believe in giving young people tools to succeed. The company has proven that when schools, educators, and professionals come together: Lives change. Futures open up. Guyana is now setting the standard, and building a new generation of certified nail artists and entrepreneurs.
