CommScope Highlights Two New Solutions for Rural Broadband Applications, Both Have Been Honored with a 2024 Diamond Technology Review Award

All-in-One Cabinet and 36-fiber flat cable simplify deployments, reduce costs

CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM), a global leader in network connectivity, is highlighting two new solutions that optimize rural deployments. Building on a 40-year history of continuous innovation, CommScope’s new All-in-One (AIO) Cabinet and 36-fiber count flat cable uniquely optimizes rural fiber deployments by delivering higher capacity, simpler deployment and maintenance, and lower infrastructure and permitting costs.

The AIO Cabinet and the 36-fiber flat drop cable both won Four Diamond awards in the 2024 Lightwave+BTR Diamond Technology Reviews program. This awards program recognizes the top cable industry products having a significant impact on designers, systems integrators, and end-users, as determined by a panel of cable telecommunications engineering experts. Honorees were announced earlier today at the SCTE® TechExpo24 show, where CommScope is currently highlighting the solutions.

CommScope® All-in-One Cabinet

As Fiber-to-the-home deployments spread to network edges in rural areas, with widely dispersed subscribers, service providers need the most cost-effective infrastructure to optimize their business case. Unlike other multi-cabinet offerings, CommScope’s AIO Cabinet merges CommScope’s innovative active equipment, environmentally controlled outside plant cabinet technology with passive, fiber distribution hub technology in one cabinet specifically designed to power, cool and protect Optical Line Terminal (OLT) active equipment.

The AIO Cabinet supports up to 576 customers from a single cabinet location. It features a smaller footprint with network style rack/OLT mounting and also supports mounting hardened nodes. To further reduce labor and maintenance costs, it offers FDH3000 swing frame technology with rear cable access and includes 22 slots that accept standard mini Plug-N-Play chassis FDH3000 optical splitters and xWDM devices. The AIO Cabinet is available now for North American customers. For more information, please visit our interactive website.

CommScope 36-fiber flat cable

CommScope’s new, high density 36-fiber flat cable is a small form factor cable aimed at speeding delivery of rural FTTx deployments. Flat cables have been utilized for many years primarily focused on drop applications to homes and businesses. High density flat cables like CommScope’s new 36-fiber flat cable expands the application possibilities beyond drop to include the buildout of feeder and distribution networks.

The innovative 36-fiber flat cable maintains the same size outer dimensions of single fiber flat cable allowing for use of existing tooling and deployment hardware. The 36-fiber flat cable is uniquely comprised of three micro tubes in the central core of the cable with each tube containing 12 250-micron fibers. The micro tube design addresses the fiber identification challenges seen with other 24 or 36 fiber flat cables.

“Our ICT solution engineering teams are always thinking about new ways to quicken and simplify deployments while reducing operator costs,” stated Koen ter Linde, SVP and president, Connectivity and Cable Solutions, CommScope. “The new AIO Cabinet and 36-fiber flat cable are their latest innovations for rural operators.”

CommScope’s 36-fiber flat cable is currently available.
