What Happened?

Shares of real estate technology company The Real Brokerage (NASDAQ: REAX) jumped 3.5% in the morning session after the company announced that a prominent Canadian real estate leader, Sandy MacKay, along with his team and a larger network of agents, joined the brokerage.

The move brought MacKay's 12-agent Found Spaces Realty Group, which averaged $100 million in volume per year over the previous eight years, to Real. In addition, a network of 50 other top-producing agents across Ontario with $500 million in annual sales also came aboard. This development significantly strengthened Real's presence in the Ontario market by adding one of Canada's most respected team leaders and a high-performing group of real estate professionals. The influx of experienced agents and substantial sales volume was viewed positively by investors.

After the initial pop the shares cooled down to $3.92, up 2.5% from previous close.

What Is The Market Telling Us

The Real Brokerage’s shares are very volatile and have had 21 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 24 days ago when the stock gained 5.7% on the news that renewed enthusiasm for Alphabet reinvigorated the artificial intelligence trade, propelling a market rebound heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Nasdaq index jumped 2.6% and the S&P 500 gained 1.6%, driven by a 5% rally in Alphabet following the announcement of its upgraded Gemini 3 AI model. This optimism spilled over into the broader tech sector. The rally built on momentum from the previous trading session, sparked by the New York Fed president keeping the door open for a December interest rate cut.

The Real Brokerage is down 14.9% since the beginning of the year, and at $3.92 per share, it is trading 28.9% below its 52-week high of $5.51 from February 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of The Real Brokerage’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $3,876.
