Flood warning for Cumberland, Sampson counties; cold front to deliver relief from the heat 

Good morning. I'm meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. After some overnight storms, a cold front moving across our area is actually going to bring us some delightful weather this afternoon. Look at this 84 in Raleigh, 84 in Durham, 85 in Fayetteville. It's been a warm and sticky start with the thunderstorms. But once that front moves through our wind shifts to north northeast and the humidity will drop and the temperatures will be very comfortable heading out the door this morning. It's likely feel tropical though, with our dew point in the mid seventies, that's likely to drop nicely into the low sixties for this afternoon. We'll see that again today. Even through Wednesday, it should feel more on the comfortable side. But by Thursday and Friday, we're back to a very tropical feel and uh most likely we'll have a heat advisory for Thursday and Friday, temperatures will be in the upper nineties both days. Our normal high is nineties. So we're a little below that for today and tomorrow and that's lovely to see for sure. But Thursday for the Fourth of July 97 and then on Friday 100 we'll have a chance of some scattered storms as well. So we also look through the weekend of the fourth of July the sixth through the 10th and we have a good chance of above normal temperatures. So it's likely to stick around for a while. We'll check out the seven day forecast. Look at the morning lows tomorrow morning, 62 feeling very comfortable. 65 Wednesday morning. But then we're right back into our extreme heat. Uh, Thursday looks dry for the fourth of July. But Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, we'll see scattered storms. It's a 40 to 50% chance for each of those afternoons. So, keep that in mind as you're making your, um, holiday weekend plans, it looks very hot again. But enjoy this little break that we'll see the next couple of days.
