An area of low pressure developed off the East Coast on Sunday bringing some overnight scattered showers. By the afternoon Monday, clearer and drier weather returns. 

Autumn breezes, sunshine replace early morning rain showers Monday

<p>Meteorologist Grant Skinner here in the Weather Center. The rain continues overnight into early Monday, then clearer and drier for the majority of the work week, and more frost as possible by Wednesday morning. Let's time this rain out with Futurecast starting at midnight. Areas of light to moderate rain across our area still pretty wide. Spread at this point. Then closer to 3 a.m. it thins out just a bit. By the morning commute, the rain will be mostly isolated across our area, the majority of it closer to the coastal plain, and really start to thin out closer to lunchtime. We'll see less cloud covered to the west as this area of low pressure works its way away from the coastline. And then by Monday evening, closer to dinner time, we should see clear skies across our area, maybe just a few clouds. Make sure you have dualled up or 5000 to look at exactly where the rain is and time out how long the rain lasts with futurecast. Now, the forecast rainfall, about 1/4 of an inch to 0.5 inch for most spots, but closer to the coastal plain, we could see some areas about 3/4 of an inch up to 1 inch of rain. With these showers we'll see overnight into early Monday. During the daytime Monday, only a 30% chance for some isolated showers, which should be drier by the back half of the day. So rain early, then clearing by the end of the day, highs in the mid-60s for your Monday, and then warmer throughout much of the week. Highs warming to the upper 60s and low 70s. By Saturday, we could reach the low to mid 70s, a better. Chance for showers later in the day on Sunday with a stronger cold front that could bring some cooler temperatures to start next week. But for now, we'll deal with more showers overnight into early Monday. Make sure you have the rain gear handy if you have to be out and about, by the morning commute, it should be a lot more isolated. Then more sunshine on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we'll see more cool mornings in the Wednesday morning and also on the Friday morning of this week.</p>

The incident happened on Southall Road near Buffaloe Road, just north of Hedingham, just before 2:30 a.m. The road was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the crash and cut up the tree.
