SSenStone Secures Successful Final Evaluation with K-water for Authentication-Based OT Security Project

SEOUL, South Korea - June 10, 2026 - SSenStone announced that its collaborative project with Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) for the development of a user authentication system for water facility monitoring and control equipment has received a successful final evaluation under Korea’s Performance-Sharing Programme.

The project was conducted to address limitations in static password and shared account-based operations in operational technology (OT) environments and to verify an authentication and access control framework suitable for critical infrastructure.

Through the project, SSenStone validated its OTAC Trusted Access Gateway (TAG), an OT security solution designed to identify and authenticate users before access to OT endpoints is established and to control access based on user permissions, without requiring modifications to existing systems.

The project included field verification and testing in operational environments, with K-water providing the test environment, validation opportunities and operational requirements.

The result confirmed the field applicability of an authentication-based OT security approach that performs user authentication before access to operational equipment is established. The project also supports IEC 62443-4-2 and IEC 62443-3-3 FR1 Identification and Authentication Control requirements.

SSenStone plans to expand application beyond PLCs to RTUs, DCSs, HMIs and other OT endpoints across major critical infrastructure sectors. A joint patent application with K-water is also in progress through the programme. swIDch, SSenStone’s London-based global headquarters, will support wider international expansion of OTAC-based OT endpoint security.

“As AI-based attack automation and remote operations continue to accelerate, OT security can no longer rely only on post-detection response,” said Yoo Chang-hun, CEO of SSenStone and swIDch. “Before access is made to OT endpoints connected to actual equipment, it is becoming increasingly important to identify, authenticate and control who is attempting to access them.”
